The idle RPG template: hero, waves and bosses
A ready idle RPG template on iDos Games - the hero fights waves of monsters and bosses on their own, gold adds up even when the player is away, stats are upgraded for gold. What is inside and how to make it your own game.
The idle RPG is a ready game to start from: the hero fights waves of monsters and bosses on their own, gold adds up even when the player is away, and the hero's stats are upgraded for gold. A new project on this template is playable right away, with heroes, gear, a store and quests. Then you reshape it into your own idea with the AI coder.
What is inside
- Auto-battle. The hero walks the road to the enemies; melee fighters meet face to face, shooters fire from afar. Crits, multi-shot, health regen, three skills with cooldowns and an "Auto" switch.
- Stages and chapters. A chapter is ten stages, and each chapter has its own world theme (from a meadow to a volcano). A stage is four waves and a boss with a 30-second timer. Lose to the boss, and the hero farms waves until the player taps "Boss!".
- Income while away. The server grants gold while the player plays and while they are away; on entry there is a "while you were away" popup. The stronger the strongest hero, the faster the income.
- Upgrades. The hero's stats for gold: x1, x10, "MAX" and hold the button to repeat.
- Guide quests. A strip with the next task of a chain and a "Claim" button.
- The bottom bar: heroes, gear summons, quests and the store.
- A 2D hero with its own skeleton, swappable parts and ten animations; gear changes how it looks.
The idea is filled in for you: answer a couple of questions, and your own project on this template is ready.
Systems already connected
Besides the six systems of every project, the template brings its own:
| System | What it does in the game | Where to set it up in the dashboard |
|---|---|---|
| Character | Heroes, their stats, gear | Live Operations → v2 → Character |
| Loot boxes | Gear summons | Live Operations → v2 → Lootbox |
| Store | Buying currency and packs | Live Operations → v2 → Store |
| Quests | A chain of guide tasks | Live Operations → v2 → Quest |
| Rewards | The rate of gold income while away | Live Operations → v2 → Reward |
In a new project all of this is already filled with a sample: GOLD and GEMS currencies, three heroes, twelve pieces of gear, the gold income, a gear summon, a store and a quest chain.
Step 01Create a project on the template
On the Create page describe an idle RPG, for example: "An idle RPG: the hero fights on their own while I upgrade the gear". The platform picks this base, and the project is playable right away. More on creating in how to make a game with AI.
Step 02Make it your own
Tell the AI coder what to change, one change at a time:
- "Make the main hero a mage with a staff".
- "Add a chapter in a winter forest".
- "Make bosses hit harder but drop twice the gold".
- "Add a weekly leaderboard by stages cleared".
Economy numbers (upgrade prices, rewards, hero stats) are easier to change in the dashboard: they are settings, not code, and players get them without a new build.
Step 03Tune the economy and release
Go through the sections from the table above, check the balance in the test version and release the game - see publishing and links.
For developers
- The game module is
idle-rpg(Phaser plus a React screen). The game sits inside the lobby: balances above it, the system tabs below it. - The fight uses the hero's server-side stats, and stage progress is stored in the player's private data
(
idle_rpg_progress). - The game reports the
stage_clearedandstat_enhancedcounters to quests: build your own tasks on them. - Module events for other modules:
idle-rpg:stage-cleared@1(a stage boss was beaten) andidle-rpg:character-upgraded@1(a hero ranked up).
How projects and modules are built is in the TypeScript SDK overview.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get this template?
Describe an idle RPG idea on the create page, for example "the hero fights on their own while I upgrade the gear", and the platform picks this base. The AI coder installs the template into an existing project on request.
Can I change the heroes and monsters?
Yes. Heroes, their stats and gear are set up in the dashboard, and the AI coder changes the look and behavior from your words.
Does gold add up while the player is away?
Yes. The server grants the income, so on the next visit the player collects the gold for the time they were away.
