A player marketplace: trading and auctions
How the ready-made iDos Games player marketplace works - listings and auctions of in-game items, bids, direct trades and a commission, with the server holding every deal - and how to set it up in the dashboard.
The marketplace lets players sell items to each other: fixed-price listings, auctions with bids and direct trades. The server holds the item and the payment until the deal settles and takes the commission you set.
What the player sees
- Tabs: the market, my lots, my bids, direct trades, things to claim and history.
- Items grouped with their cheapest price; offers of one item, cheapest first.
- Selling: pick an item, a listing or an auction, the price, the duration and the commission.
- Bids with the minimum next bid, and accepting or declining direct trades.
How it works
- Only tradable items can be sold, never a worn one.
- Prices are in a currency tradable between players, set in the dashboard.
- The server holds the escrow and settles every trade; the commission is taken on the deal.
Step 01Add the system to your project
Ask the AI coder: "Add a player marketplace". It installs the ready system with listings and auctions and a 5% commission.
Step 02Set it up in the dashboard
Open the dashboard, pick your project and go to Live Operations → v2 → Marketplace.
- Choose the currencies players trade in and the commission.
- Set the allowed durations and limits of listings and auctions.
- Mark which items are tradable.
The AI button on the page opens an assistant: describe what you need, it proposes changes, and you review them and press Save.
Step 03Test and release
Check the system in the test version of your app. Settings go to the live app as a separate action - see publishing and links.
For developers
The marketplace works through client.marketplace in @idosgames/core.
// The market: items grouped with the cheapest price, then buy one offer
const market = await client.marketplace.getGroupedOffers()
const res = await client.marketplace.buy(offerID)
if (!res.ok) return showError(res.error)- A bid must be at least the minimum next bid the server reports.
- Finished auctions and returned items are collected with
claimAuctionandclaimBack.
Every field is described in the marketplace-system skill, served by the SDK MCP server.
