Inventory: items and currencies of the player
How the ready-made iDos Games inventory works - items by category and rarity, counts and levels, item cards and hand-off to heroes and chests - and how to set up items and currencies in the dashboard.
The inventory shows everything the player owns: items by category and rarity, with counts and levels. It is part of every new project and is always visible in the lobby; items and currencies themselves are set up once in the dashboard and used by every other system.
What the player sees
- Category tabs: equipment, consumables, other.
- Rarity frames, counts and levels on every item.
- An item card with its description.
- Hand-off: equipment opens the heroes screen, a chest or key opens the chests.
Opens with a key. Contains gear of any rarity.
How it works
- The inventory reads the SDK cache: it sends no request of its own.
- Stackable items are kept as counts, unique ones (gear) as instances with their own level.
- Every system that grants or spends items changes the same inventory on the server.
Step 01Add the system to your project
Nothing to add: the inventory is part of every new project, and its tab is shown even before the title has items.
Step 02Set it up in the dashboard
Open the dashboard, pick your project and go to Live Operations → v2 → Item.
- Create items in Item: name, category, rarity, stackable or unique, and what they do.
- Create currencies in Currency: soft and hard currencies of the game.
The AI button on the page opens an assistant: describe what you need, it proposes changes, and you review them and press Save.
Step 03Test and release
Check the system in the test version of your app. Settings go to the live app as a separate action - see publishing and links.
For developers
Items and currencies work through client.item and client.currency in @idosgames/core; the state lives in the SDK cache.
// The inventory is already in the SDK cache after sign-in, no extra request
const inv = client.data.user.state?.Inventory
inv?.VirtualCurrencies?.['GOLD'] // a currency balance
inv?.Items?.['potion']?.TotalAmount // a stackable item
Object.values(inv?.UnstackableItems ?? {}) // gear instances with their levels- Render from the cache: it updates after every purchase, reward and craft by itself.
- Grant items only through the systems (rewards, store, chests): the client never adds items.
Every field is described in the item-system skill, served by the SDK MCP server.
