Heroes and characters: stats, ranks and gear

How the ready-made iDos Games heroes system works - a roster of heroes, stat upgrades, ranks, Power counted by the server, gear slots and skins - and how to set it up in the dashboard.

Updated: Русский

Heroes are a ready-made character system: a roster to unlock, stats to upgrade, ranks, gear slots and skins. The server counts every hero's Power and re-checks every upgrade, so the numbers of a fight cannot be faked from the game.

What the player sees

  • The selected hero: portrait, class, rarity, rank and Power counted by the server, with "Rank up" and its price.
  • Gear slots; a locked slot shows the rank it opens at; "Equip best" and "Take off all".
  • Stat upgrades with prices, caps and requirements, and "Upgrade all" as far as the balances allow.
  • "Where this number comes from": base, stat levels, rank and gear bonuses.
  • The hero list to select and unlock, and skins to wear or buy.

Example. The heroes screen: the selected hero, gear slots and stat upgrades.

How it works

  • Prices and caps follow the title curves: the rank ladder, the stat cost curve and the item upgrade.
  • Gear comes from the inventory: equipment opens straight on this screen.
  • The game gets the selected hero by an event and fields it in the fight; the idle RPG and the PvP arena use these stats.

Step 01Add the system to your project

Ask the AI coder: "Add heroes". It installs the ready system with three demo heroes: a free Knight and an Archer and Mage for gems. The idle RPG template has it from the start.

Step 02Set it up in the dashboard

Open the dashboard, pick your project and go to Live Operations → v2 → Character.

  • Create heroes: class, rarity, stats, unlock price and gear slots.
  • Set the rank ladder and the stat cost curves.
  • Gear is made in Item: equipment with flat and percent bonuses.

The AI button on the page opens an assistant: describe what you need, it proposes changes, and you review them and press Save.

Step 03Test and release

Check the system in the test version of your app. Settings go to the live app as a separate action - see publishing and links.

For developers

Heroes work through client.character in @idosgames/core.

TypeScript
// Unlock a hero, raise a stat and the rank; the server checks prices and caps
await client.character.unlockCharacter('archer', { selectedOptionID: 'gems' })
await client.character.upgradeStatLevel('knight', 'attack')
const res = await client.character.upgradeCharacterLevel('knight')
if (!res.ok) return showError(res.error)
  • Batch methods (upgradeStatLevelsBatch, unlockCharactersBatch) do "Upgrade all" in one request.
  • Read Power and stats from the server state: do not count them in the game.

Every field is described in the character-system skill, served by the SDK MCP server.

Frequently asked questions

Can the hero look like my game's character?

Yes. A game can hand its own hero art to the screen; the idle RPG template does that with its layered 2D hero.

Where is gear set up?

Gear is ordinary items with bonuses, set up in the Item section; the heroes screen equips them.
