Bonding curve

A bonding curve is a formula that sets a token's price from how many tokens have been bought - the price rises with every purchase and falls with every sale, without an order book.

Crypto tokens are volatile and can lose all of their value. This page explains how the platform works and is not financial advice.

A bonding curve is a pricing formula: the more of a token has been bought, the higher its price. Buyers pay into the curve and sellers are paid from it, so a new token can be traded from the first minute without an exchange listing or an order book.

How it works on iDos Games

  • When you launch a token, it starts on a bonding curve.
  • Players buy and sell it on the app page; every purchase moves the price up, every sale moves it down.
  • When the curve is filled, the token's liquidity moves to a decentralized exchange (DEX), and trading continues there. In the catalog such tokens are marked as moved to a DEX.

Why it is used

  • Trading from day one: no need to find market makers or provide liquidity yourself.
  • A transparent price: the price follows a formula fixed when the token is created.
  • A clear goal: filling the curve is a visible milestone for the community of the app.
