AI inside your game: text, pictures, music and 3D for players
How the ready-made iDos Games in-app AI works - an AI studio where players generate text, pictures, voice, music, video and 3D through features you open, with a price in game resources - and how to set it up in the dashboard.
In-app AI lets players create inside your game: text, pictures, voice, music, video and 3D models, through the features you open to them. The prompts and models stay on the server; the player only describes what they want and pays the price you set in game resources, or nothing.
What the player sees
- The AI studio with every feature you opened, grouped by kind: text, picture, voice, music, video, 3D.
- A prompt and a price: the player describes what they want and pays in game resources, or nothing.
- The result of the server job: text, a picture, a player for sound and video, a download link for 3D.
- "My creations": the history of the player's generations.
"A fox knight in golden armor, cartoon style"
How it works
- A feature is set up by you: what it generates, the hidden prompt and the limits; the player never sees prompts or models.
- Generations are paid from the credits of your iDos Games account; the player price in game resources is yours to set.
- A feature marked hidden is for the game's own code (NPC lines and the like) and is not shown in the studio; the voxel sandbox builds worlds this way.
Step 01Add the system to your project
Ask the AI coder: "Let players generate a hero portrait". It installs the AI studio or calls the feature from the game's own code.
Step 02Set it up in the dashboard
Open the dashboard, pick your project and go to Live Operations → v2 → InApp AI.
- Create a feature: kind (text, picture, voice, music, video, 3D), the hidden prompt and its quality mode.
- Set the player price in game resources and the limits per player.
- Set the spending caps of the title so a popular game does not spend more credits than you planned.
The AI button on the page opens an assistant: describe what you need, it proposes changes, and you review them and press Save.
Step 03Test and release
Check the system in the test version of your app. Settings go to the live app as a separate action - see publishing and links.
For developers
In-app AI works through client.ai in @idosgames/core.
// A picture by the player's prompt through the 'skin-gen' feature of the title
const res = await client.ai.generateImage('skin-gen', { Prompt: text })
if (!res.ok) return showError(res.error) // refused: nothing generated, nothing charged
// The server runs the job; wait for the result
const done = await client.ai.waitForGeneration(res.data)- A refusal of the request (limit reached, unavailable) charges nothing: show the reason and offer to try later.
- Do not wait in a loop yourself:
waitForGenerationfollows the server job.
Every field is described in the ai-generation-system skill, served by the SDK MCP server.
