The minimal template: a mini-game your game replaces

The minimal iDos Games template - a 15-second "catch the stars" game with a leaderboard score and rounds that count for quests, events and the season. It shows how a game plugs into the base and is meant to be replaced by your game.

Updated: Русский

The minimal template is the smallest complete game: catch stars for 15 seconds, a gold star is worth three points. The platform gives it when no other base fits your idea. It shows the path "sign-in → lobby → Play" and is connected to the systems from the start: the score goes to the leaderboard, and rounds count for quests, events and the season.

What is inside

  • A 15-second round launched with the lobby's "Play" button.
  • Stars: a normal one is worth one point, a gold one three.
  • The score goes to the leaderboard of the title.
  • A round counts for quests with the games_played counter, events with the play_round action and season chains open to clients.
  • No engine: React and DOM, the simplest example of a game module.

The idea is filled in for you: answer a couple of questions, and your own project on this template is ready.

Step 01Create a project

Describe your idea on the Create page. If neither the board game, the idle RPG nor the voxel sandbox fits it, the project starts from this template. More in how to make a game with AI.

Step 02Replace the mini-game with yours

Describe your game to the AI coder: "Instead of the stars, make a runner where the hero jumps over obstacles". Sign-in, the lobby and the systems stay; only the game itself changes. Keep the links to the systems: "Send the run score to the leaderboard and count the run for quests".

Step 03Release

Check the game in the test version and release it - see publishing and links.

For developers

  • The game module is mini-game (React/DOM, no engine): the reference of the smallest game module.
  • The score is client.leaderboard.submitScore; a round for events is client.timedEvent.grantTokens with the play_round action; season status is client.season.grantStatusTokens.
  • How a game module is built is in the TypeScript SDK overview and the idosgames-module-contract skill.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimal template for?

It is the starting game when no other one fits the idea. It shows where a game plugs into the base and is replaced by the real game.

Does it need any settings in the dashboard?

The mini-game has no settings of its own: it plays on the base's world. The leaderboard, events and season pick up its rounds when they are set up.
